We have just finished conducting our focus group, and we have gained a lot of new information regarding our music video and the preferences of our target audience (which seems to be 15- 25 year olds).
We conducted the focus group keeping in mind the following:
The track
Possible music video pitches (for both narrative and performance)
The genre
Music channels which they watch, if at all
What they look for in a music video
How they like narratives to end
If they are reminded by any other bands by the song
We interveiwed people who were the ages of 17-18, which could be a fault, as it is a very limited age catagory, and the opinions of a 17/18 year old could be incredibly different to that of a 25 year old. We also noticed afterwards that we had a much larger male to female ratio than we would have liked, however, after looking at the questionnaire results, we felt this was justified, as there was a much higher ratio than this.
